World Vision Myanmar
STOP THE CYCLE OF VIOLENCE
World Vision Myanmar aims to protect Myanmar children against violence, in school and at home. The brief was to raise urgency and awareness of the long-term effects that physical violence has on children.
Research showed that parents and teachers are regarded as one of the “five gems” and on the same plane as Buddha. Very few dispute the power of the parents and teachers. Religion and moral codes support the dominance of these caregivers. Corporal punishment is a norm and acceptable, believing that they are doing the right thing.
Most striking, parents also do not see the cumulative long-term effects of violence inflicted on kids. Violence inflicted on children from a young builds up and normalizes their tendencies towards violence when they grow up, thereby creating a vicious cycle.
Creative brought this to life via the use of the domino effect which shows how violence experienced at a young age builds up, gaining momentum to inflicting violence on others when they are grown up.
